The course will provide comprehensive foundational training for speech language pathologist for diagnosing and managing swallowing disorders through nasoendoscopy. Anatomy, phyisiology, indications/contraindications for FEES, the procedure including equipment, technique and safety will be provided.
Learning Outcomes:
- Discuss research regarding instrumental swallow studies, including FEES
- Identify 5 anatomical parts from the superior view
- Identify normal and abnormal anatomy and swallow physiology as viewed endoscopically
- Identify risks and contraindications for FEES
- Summarize components of FEES equipment
- Describe at least 4 steps for competency in FEES
- Describe a protocol for administering FEES
- Apply appropriate therapeutic interventions during FEES based on physiological deficits

Nicole is the owner of NDoscopy Dysphagia Specialists, a mobile FEES (flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing) company servicing New York and New Jersey. Her areas of expertise include dysphagia management and critically complex patients including tracheostomy and mechanical ventilation in a variety of settings including acute care, long term acute, subacute, and skilled nursing.
